Our Committment
The welfare of every child who plays football in our club is our highest priority. As an affiliated club of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) and the Dublin and District Schoolboys’/Girls’ League (DDSL), we are fully committed to providing a safe, positive and enjoyable environment where children can develop their football skills, build confidence and make lifelong friendships.
We follow the FAI Safeguarding Programme and the principles of the Children First Act 2015 to ensure that all children are protected and treated with dignity and respect. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and applies to coaches, volunteers, parents, guardians and club officials alike.

Our club is committed to:
- Putting the welfare of children first at all times
- Creating a safe and inclusive environment for all players
- Ensuring all coaches and volunteers are Garda Vetted
- Requiring coaches and volunteers to complete FAI Safeguarding training
- Appointing a Club Child Welfare Officer (CWO)
- Following the FAI Code of Conduct for Coaches, Parents and Players
- Responding promptly and appropriately to any safeguarding concerns
Key Safeguarding Requirements
Anyone working with children in the club must complete the following before taking up their role:
1. Garda Vetting
All adults involved with underage teams must complete Garda Vetting through the FAI.
2. Safeguarding Training
Coaches and volunteers must complete the relevant FAI Safeguarding workshops.
3. Codes of Conduct
All members are expected to follow the FAI Codes of Conduct to ensure a respectful and supportive environment.
4. Child Welfare Officer
The club appoints a Child Welfare Officer to oversee safeguarding matters and act as the main point of contact for any concerns.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who needs Garda Vetting?
Any adult who has regular contact with players under the age of 18, including coaches, managers, committee members and volunteers.
How often do I need to renew Garda Vetting?
FAI Garda Vetting must be renewed every three years.
What safeguarding course do coaches need?
Coaches must complete the appropriate FAI Safeguarding course for their role.
What should I do if I have a child welfare concern?
Contact the Club Child Welfare Officer immediately. All concerns are handled confidentially and in accordance with FAI procedures.
Can a coach start before vetting is complete?
No. Coaches and volunteers cannot begin working with children until Garda Vetting and required safeguarding training are fully completed.
