Girls U14 France Tournament
The U14 Girls have made it to France for their tournament..
Bonjour From the Diggers: U14 Girls Make Club History in France 🇫🇷
There are moments in grassroots football that feel bigger than results. Moments that remind you what clubs like Glasnevin FC are really all about. The May Bank Holiday 2026 weekend was one of those moments.
For the first time in the club’s history, one of our girls teams travelled overseas for tournament football as our U14 Major Girls headed to France for what can only be described as a landmark occasion for Glasnevin FC. And if that doesn’t make the club proud, nothing will.
These girls are pioneers for the next generation of Diggers coming through. Somewhere around Albert College Park this week, younger girls will have watched those photos and videos from France and thought:
"That’ll be us someday."
That’s how clubs grow. That’s how culture is built.
And by all reports, the girls represented Glasnevin brilliantly from the moment they boarded the plane until the final whistle of the tournament. Travelling in style in their new club tracksuits — kindly supported by Prospect Environmental Services — the squad headed off for a weekend full of football, friendship and memories that will last a lifetime.
The reports coming back from France painted a very familiar Diggers picture:
* brilliant football
* serious noise levels
* campsite chaos
* dancing
* team bonding
* and at least one refereeing decision that may require an international investigation.
The girls faced academy sides and older opposition throughout the tournament and competed brilliantly, showing huge character, togetherness and spirit across the weekend. But trips like this don’t happen on their own. Massive credit goes to coaches Lee, Paul and Sam, whose work with the girls has helped create such a fantastic environment around the team.
Huge thanks as well to the committee and all the parents for their support in helping make the trip happen — and special recognition to the mammies and dads who somehow managed the logistics of passports, kits, gear bags, flights, snacks, chargers and approximately 700 WhatsApp messages.
Frankly, organising all that deserves UEFA accreditation. Most importantly though, the girls had an absolute ball. They laughed together, competed together, travelled together and created memories that will stay with them for years.
A trip of a lifetime.
A huge milestone for girls football at Glasnevin FC.
And hopefully the first of many more adventures to come.
Up the girls. Up the Diggers.
