About Glasnevin GFC
Glasnevin Football Club is one of Dublin’s oldest and most established grassroots football clubs, proudly serving the local community for more than 140 years.
Based in the north Dublin suburb of Glasnevin, the club was originally founded by employees of the nearby Glasnevin Cemetery — a connection that gave rise to the club’s famous nickname, “The Diggers.” More than a century later, that identity remains at the heart of everything we do.
Today, Glasnevin FC is a thriving, community-driven football club with teams competing across all age groups, from academy football through to senior level. Our home matches and training sessions take place in Albert College Park and Griffith Park, where generations of players, coaches, volunteers and families have created lasting memories in red and green.
Mission Statement
At Glasnevin FC, our mission is simple:
“To provide a professional, safe, friendly and positive football environment where players can develop both on and off the pitch.”
We are committed to creating an inclusive club where players of all abilities are encouraged to learn, improve and enjoy the game in a supportive atmosphere.
While we strive to help players compete at the highest levels of youth football, we believe development goes far beyond results. Through football, we aim to help young people build confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline and lifelong friendships.
A Club Built on Community
Glasnevin FC has always been about more than football.
We are a club built by volunteers, supported by families and driven by a shared love of the game. Every week, dozens of coaches, committee members, parents and volunteers give their time to ensure the club continues to grow and provide opportunities for young players throughout the local community.
From early morning academy sessions to senior football under the lights, the club is powered by people who care deeply about creating a positive environment for everyone involved.

Football for allPlayer Pathways
Glasnevin FC currently fields teams across multiple age groups and divisions, competing in:
- the Dublin & District Schoolboys'/Girls' League (DDSL)
- the Leinster Senior League
- the Amateur Football League
From our youngest academy players taking their first touches of a football to our senior teams competing at adult level, the club provides a pathway for players to develop throughout their football journey.
Our senior men’s team competes in the Saturday Premier Division of the Leinster Senior League, while our underage structure continues to expand each year across both boys and girls football.
