Lusk vs Glasnevin FC 19-09-2009

Wednesday, September 23, 2009 By Eddie Riley @ 1:44 PM :: Club News, Match Reports

Emphatic win by the Diggers rounded up beautifully in Dan Daly's post match text:

"Super stuff today lads, it was only a matter of time before we unleashed our best and destroyed the opposition. Hard work and proper football gained us 3 points and put us right back in the race."

Lusk Buried by Diggers! From the Evening Herald:

Lusk United had nowhere to really having won the premier division Saturday last season. Unless they went to play on Sunday that is.
They didn't do that so they were left to defend the title they snatched from a strong Rivermeade team last season. I can recall them gaining and impressive point at fortress St. Margaret's and that game i think proved the turning point.
They, themselves, proved to be almost invincible at the Handball Alley down there on home ground. And they would have fancied they're chances on saturday hosting a Glasnevin side they finished twelve points ahead of last term.
They had also tied 1-1 with The Diggers in the reverse fixture which has already been played. Easy-Peasy you would have thought. Not so! The men from Albert Collage had different ideas.
Glasnevin ran out fairly emphatic 5-2 winners on the day. Brian Blood bagged a couple and William Byrne, Keith Kearns and Daryl Slein were also on the score sheet.
Lusk's two goals were scored by Earl Doyle and Ian McManey. So are Lusk on the wain, it's early days let's not write them off prematurely. 'Nevin for sure, however will be a force to be reckoned with.
